Protecting your account: security habits that matter

Most account compromises start outside the platform — reused passwords, phishing pages, or social engineering over messaging apps. A secure trading account begins with the basics that many people still skip. Unique passwords, two-factor authentication, and a healthy scepticism about unsolicited messages are the foundation.

Here are the controls we recommend enabling on every Nordic FX account, and the signals that a message claiming to be from us is not. Two-factor authentication should be enabled on both your email and your trading account. Email is often the weakest link; if an attacker controls your inbox, they can reset many other accounts from there.

Withdrawal whitelists add another layer. By pre-approving the addresses or accounts where funds can be sent, you make it much harder for a compromised account to be drained quickly. Even if someone gains access, they cannot send money to an unapproved destination without additional verification.

Impersonation attempts are becoming more sophisticated. Attackers create fake support profiles, copy branding, and pressure victims to share codes or install remote access software. We will never ask for your password, two-factor code, or full card details over chat, email, or phone. Any such request should be treated as fraudulent.

We also recommend reviewing login notifications and account activity regularly. Unrecognised locations or devices should be reported immediately. Small habits, like checking the URL before entering credentials and avoiding public Wi-Fi for trading, reduce risk more than most people expect.

Security is not a one-time setup. It is a set of habits that need occasional review. As threats evolve, so should your defences. The few minutes spent updating passwords, checking settings, and verifying contacts are a small price for protecting the account that holds your capital.
